'The Russian Century' takes us from a costume ball in old St Petersburg to the 1917 revolution; from the battle for Stalingrad to Stalin's atrocities; from the Cold War to "glasnost"; from the Second Revolution in 1993 to the chaotic state of contemporary Russia.
The photographs - over 300 - are unique. Previously unseen in the West they were gathered from sealed archives, academic institutions and even the KGB.
