Stevie wins sixth prize in a contest sponsored by Job's Comforters, which instead of the down quilt she was hoping for, turns out to be a dozen goose eggs and an incubator. The girls are studying vaulting with a good old horse named Clara who has come to Pine Hollow for a month. Veronica gets outside lessons, but is beaten in the final showdown when the goslings, who have imprinted on Stevie as their mother, fly onto Clara's back along with Stevie for a grand performance.
