After the death of her father, Vanessa West and mother, Marion, are looking for an escape. Seeing an opportunity to get closer to her mother, Vanessa takes her to Ashagiri, a remote hill station in India where Marion grew up in the time of the Raj. But the journey pushes their relationship to its limits, as mother and daughter struggle to understand each other.
