A haunting and magical retelling of the ancient selkie tale which has been exquisitely illustrated. Selkies are seal-shaped creatures that are able to come out of the sea and remove their skins when on land.
One moonlit night a young fisherman comes across a group of selkies dancing on the beach. He is transfixed and decides to take a selkie's skin. The selkie, without her skin, cannot return to the sea and goes home with the fisherman to live on the land. Deep down, the selkie longs to return to the sea and begs the fisherman to give back her skin so she can go home. The fisherman understands that he must return to the selkie what is rightfully hers and waits in hope that she will one day return to him.
