Charles Wagner (1852-1916) was a French reformed pastor whose inspirational writings were influential in shaping liberal reformed theology. In 1904, he was invited to preach at the White House by Theodore Roosevelt on whom his book The Simple Life (1901) had made a lasting impression. His works include: The Better Way (1903), By the Fireside (1904), My Impressions of America (1906) and Justice (1905).
