At the ripe old age of thirty-two, former wild child Isabel "Izzy" Spellman has finally agreed to take over the family business. The transition won't be smooth. First among her priorities as head of Spellman Investigations is to dig up some dirt on the competition, slippery ex-cop Rick Harkey - a task she may enjoy a little too much. And, faced with a puzzling missing-person's case she recruits actor friend, Len, to infiltrate the home of an aging millionaire as a butler - a role he may enjoy a little much. At Spellman's headquarters, it's business as unusual. Izzy is being blackmailed by her mother to commit to regular blind dates with promising professionals, Detective Henry Stone has mysteriously decided to rekindle their relationship, doorknobs and light fixtures are disappearing daily and little sister Rae's grassroots campaign to spring an innocent man from jail could well land her behind bars. However much she matures, it looks as though Izzy will never be able to follow Spellman Family Rule No. 1: Act Normal.
