Zacchaeus was not a nice man. He was so mean that he would grab candy from a baby and eat it or steal an old man's jacket. When Zacchaeus walked down the street, the townspeople would cross to the other side. Children would cry. Dogs would growl. And though Zacchaeus did not have any friends, he liked being rich more.
Then one day Jesus came to town. Everyone was excited about his visit, even Zacchaeus. But because he was so short, Zacchaeus got lost behind all the people. He couldn't see a thing, even from his stool. Finally, Zacchaeus climbed to the very top of a sycamore tree and peeked out over the crowd. What happened after that changed Zacchaeus's life forever.
