Twenty Inspiring Needlepoint Designs
This book is alive with the vibrant colours and highly original designs of tapestry. Many designs are provoked by the beauty of the natural world - flowers, gardens, landscapes, fruit and vegetables, birds and butterflies. Others are inspired by beautiful objects, by the geometry of Islamic tiles or by antique textiles.
Jill Gordon gives advice about implementing her ideas and ways of working to produce very personal designs. The reader can clearly see how an idea for a tapestry starts and is followed through to the finished, stunning needlepoint. Twenty are illustrated and described in detail in the book, and thirteen are fully charted with stitching instructions. The charts are complemented by an appendix outlining, for example, stitching techniques, stretching finished canvases and making up into cushions and hangings, screens and placemats.
