Seven master weavers from the world-famous Victorian Tapestry Workshop in South Melbourne worked for seven months to complete the 7 x 2 metre tapestry, which will be hung in the new MCG stand currently under construction. The tapestry will also go on tour around the world, culminating at Lords.

Keith Dunstan's lively commentary outlines the history of the MCG and includes a biography of every figure depicted. Robert Ingpen has an outstanding reputation as a fine artist and book illustrator. He is the only Australian artist ever to win the international Hans Christian Andersen Medal for illustration and he holds the prestigious Dromkeen medal.

Keith's 'The People's Ground' was published in 2000. The eminently readable story of the Melbourne Cricket Club and its famous ground originated in 1962 as 'The Paddock That Grew' and it was updated in 1974 and 1988 (for the MCC's 150th anniversary). Another milestone - the ground's 150th anniversary - has called him once more to the keyboard to set in context the many great characters and outstanding events that are depicted on the Melbourne Cricket Club's tapestry.
