After the success of his book on outback sporting events, 'Which Way To The Lizard Races?', Steve Strevens has once again hit the road and gone in search of Australians and their pastimes. In this book Strevens spends Anzac Day in multi-cultural Coober Pedy, dances the night away at a formal ball halfway up the Oodnadatta Track and talks to the old timer drovers at a reunion in Camooweal on the Northern Territory border.
He also marches with a group from Griffith in the Sydney Mardi Gras, has a very relaxing time at the Nimbin Marijuana Festival and joins a circus travelling in Southern Queensland. Together with a jaunt or two up to Kalgoorlie, the Tibooburra festival and the biggest party of them all, the Melbourne Cup, Strevens reaches deep into the heart and soul of the country and meets some amazing characters.
'The Things We Do' is at once affectionate, touching, serious and often extremely funny. It is a celebration of what happens when Australians get together.
