One of the most popular and well known folk tales told in Spain and throughout Latin America, this is the story of three brothers, one industrious and the two elder brothers selfish and lazy who are sent on a quest to find the women they will marry. A wise old woman directs them to a castle surrounded by orange trees where they must find three oranges that glitter like gold. They must work together and not harm the oranges as they return to her. The two older brothers resort to trickery and only Matias, the youngest, ultimately succeeds. A highly original tale of goodness rewarded and treachery defeated.
