Most DVDs that are released now have hidden extras on them which are called Easter Eggs. This is the first guide book to tell you what they are and how to find them.
Remember the joys of Easter? Finding all the chocolate eggs your mum has hidden throughout the house before your baby brother or sister does. It's hardly the same anymore; how can you get really excited about hidden Easter eggs when they are practically available all year round? The answer is with DVD. As well as the reams of extras, film companies are cunningly hiding all manner of juicy information on their discs. The Easter Egg (hidden information normally put in a program for the amusement of friends) is nothing new to computer software, and once you've come across them on a DVD you'll be looking for them on every disc you've got. Film companies are now wising up to the amount of joy that can be had from the egg hunt, and are more regularly slipping in a few snippets of information and letting us root around for it. And root around you will. Many Easter Eggs aren't that obvious, but finding them can be as satisfying as discovering a secret room in Tomb Raider. Before long, you'll be going through each menu you come across with a fine sweep of remote control presses, waiting for that background object that doesn't look quite right to light up. Happy hunting!
