In August 1983 at the age of sixteen Ffyona Campbell set out from John O'Groats, beginning a walk that was to take her around the world. Having completed her epic journey, Ffyona now tells the story of her amazing life.
The pressure to prove herself and to honour her commitment to her sponsor had forced her to accept a lift while pregnant in America. Ffyona describes the agony of her deception as it came back to haunt her, and studies the motivation that kept her walking after that difficult time - covering a total distance of 20,000 miles in eleven years. She also explains how a journey which began as a solitary pilgrimage ended as a triumphant example of human potential.
