'I squinted as I let my eyes glide on the ridge in front of me, the growling crevasses, the smooth domes leaping to the blue walls of the serac, the curve of the rocky face towards the hidden snow of the summit. There were tears in my eyes. It must have been the wind.'
It was at the foot of Victoria's majestic Mount Arapiles that Brigitte Muir first conceived the dream to climb the highest mountain on each continent. It was a dream she fell slave to for nine years, and a dream that endured illness, hardship and heartache.
