Before Thoroughbred, Ashleigh Griffen lived at Edgardale, her family's farm in Kentucky. Nothing could be more perfect than life on the farm with her family, her favourite horses, and her best friend, Mona. Ashleigh loves helping with the horses - and dreaming of becoming a jockey some day . . .
Ashleigh hasn't been paying much attention to her horse, Stardust, lately. What they need is to have a little fun. So when Ashleigh's best friend, Mona Gardner, asks Ashleigh to join her and Frisky in the show ring, Ashleigh decides to go for it, especially since the prize for the rider with most points in the show is a new saddle something Ashleigh desperately needs.
But Ashleigh soon discovers that the show ring will test more than just her riding skills. Will a friendly competition put an end to a lifelong friendship?
