'Time Out: Los Angeles' goes beyond the tourist hot spots and covers the whole city, from Venice Beach to the Valleys via Orange County, South Central and East LA
California may be in turmoil, but to visit Los Angeles, you wouldn't really know it. For the most part, life here is lived much as it has been since time immemorial: decadently, stylishly and glitzily, all under bliss-inducing, cloudless skies. Classic Los Angeles is there if you want it, of course, whether at the 40-year-old, star-studded Beverly Hills restaurant Dan Tana's or on the ever-fruity Venice Beach. But that's not to suggest LA is standing still; far from it. The new Walt Disney Concert Hall, designed by Frank Gehry, is testament to the ongoing regeneration of Downtown; the city's restaurants are better and more varied than ever before, with more opening all the time; and the regeneration of Hollywood, especially the Hollywood & Highland complex in which sits the Kodak Theatre, the new home of the Academy Awards, is paying dividends in terms of increased visitor numbers.
'Time Out: Los Angeles' takes you to all these venues and thousands more besides, over 320 full-colour pages.
