Tonia Buxton has revisited many different, sun-drenched locations throughout Greece and Cyprus to film her TV series. In this, her first book, she has collected over 100 mouthwatering recipes from the series - originally sourced from her grandmothers, mother, aunts and cousins - from tempting meze, to mouth watering mains and wicked desserts.
Greek breads and drinks are also included, as well as a chapter on Greek and Cypriot wines. She concludes with menu suggestions for a variety of occasions.
Each recipe is prefaced by an evocative narrative ranging from remembering visits to locations, personal family anecdotes, discussion of the dishes, and amusing quotations from friends. 'Tonia's tips' suggest variations on the recipes, substitutes for more difficult to find ingredients, and the health benefits of certain foods and spices. She has a passionate desire to promote awareness of true Greek and Cypriot home cooking which shines through in her book.
