Meet Gerard Oakes - he's a top bloke.
Gerard is a washed-up footy player with a beer gut and a penchant for VB and Wild Turkey whisky. His girlfriend Mary-Anne has dumped him, he's been sacked from his day job as a cigarette salesman and his pride and joy - a HSV Commodore - has just been nicked.
But all is not doom and gloom for Gerard as he still has his classy Hugo Boss suit and a positive attitude that eventually things will pick up and his true genius be recognised by the losers of the world.
Enter Lester Allardyce, a loner who goes on a killing spree in a suburban shopping mall. Gerard knows Lester or thinks he does and quickly becomes obsessed with him. What follows is a slow and steady descent into dark and creepy comic madness - Gerard's obsession with mass murderer Allardyce sends him spiraling into a fantasy world that culminates in a chilling finale.
