Over the past five years country sports journalist Ian Valentine has reported on a wide range of seasonal pursuits for Shooting Times, witnessing the fifty-two activities covered here almost always for the first time. His journey has taken him to the most beautiful parts of the British Isles and beyond. From moose in Finland to rats in Shropshire, high Galloway pheasants to low Yorkshire grouse, he relates the sights, sounds and smells encountered along the way. Whether it is shivering on the foreshore in February, staring down a rifle scope in the Highlands in August or chasing a basset pack in October, he has always come back with a story to tell.
