On 3rd May 2007, three year old Madeleine McCann disappeared from her family’s rented holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal. Left alone with her two younger siblings whilst her parents and their friends dined nearby it was assumed that Madeleine had been abducted. When British police and forensic experts flew to Portugal to assist the local police their findings, which included blood, body fluids, and hair that provided a similar match to Madeleine led to her parents being labelled as suspects as well as an Anglo-Portuguese resident Robert Murat who had no connections with the family.
A year on, Spanish-based veteran investigative journalist Danny Collins looks at the clues and the false leads, attempting to piece together the events of that summer night. Was Madeleine carried off by a sexual predator, was it a case of accidental death – no body has been found and those responsible are still at large.
