Annie Lee Fleck is a sweetly neurotic waitress with a penchant for paint colours and 1800 numbers (the G-rated kind), who lives cosily with her husband in a Colorado ski village. The only negative in her sunny, snowy world is the longed-for baby they can't seem to conceive, a misfortune that threatens to shake the foundations of their marriage.
Only her frequent calls to the Poison Control hotline about the misadventures of her imaginary child bring temporary order to her mixed up world - the volunteers on the line always have the antidote to even the most disastrous mishaps Annie Lee can fabricate. But when Lucas overhears her, all hell breaks loose.
One night after closing time at the restaurant, Annie Lee accidentally sucks up an enormous diamond in the vacuum cleaner. In one magical moment her world changes forever, and it takes a little luck, a splash of screwball comedy and a lot of love to turn Annie Lee's snow-globe world right side up again.
