Light's Choice
Adelaide owes its marvellous location and design to the efforts of William Light, the Colony of South Australia's first Surveyor General. This collection of walks around Adelaide follows in the footsteps of William Light through the terraces, squares and parks that he laid out, and along the banks of the River Torrens, the focal point of Adelaide.
Many of the houses seen on these walks belonged to Light's contemporaries, and all of the areas visited, with their different atmospheres, bear the imprint of the past: from the bustle of Port Adelaide to the gracious terraces and vistas of North Adelaide and the village-like charm of Marion on the Sturt. The walks often take in Adelaide's many bushland reserves and parks.
This book is packed with fascinating information that brings the early days of the Colony vividly to life.
