First in the Eldar trilogy.
Blood runs, death wakes, war calls . . .
Mankind was not the first amongst these stars. There are races far more ancient, and far more powerful. In times long past, the Eldar sailed the length of the galaxy in their craftsworlds, seeking knowledge above all things. But they sought for enlightenment in the darkest corners, and unleased a power that threatened to destroy them. Now the Eldar are scattered, a dying race on a long, slow slide into oblivion.
The Eldar farseers, through, can see the future - or more particularly, the futures. Endless possibilities stretch ahead of the galaxy. By manipulating events, the Eldar can bring peace, for a time. But they are not powerful any more - so they must find an agent. They must find one very special human, and convince him to do their bidding.
