Shortly before he died, Raymond Carver made this selection of his stories, revised the texts and published them as 'Where I'm Calling From.' This edition commemorates the tenth anniversary of his premature death, and also includes all seven stories from his final collection.
Although Raymond Carver published a number of small-press books of poetry it wasn't until 1976 that his work began to reach a wide audience. The following year he gave up alcohol, which had contributed to the collapse of his first marriage, and, met the poet Tess Gallagher with whom he shared the last eleven years of his life. Carver was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He died in 1988.
