An eclectic mix of people and experiences, Byron Bay and the surrounding area never fails to please. With some of the country's best beaches and the lure of lush tropical rainforests in the surrounding hills, the label "God's Country" sits comfortably with those who visit. Byron Bay itself is alive with people, restaurants, bars, beaches and activities. Hippies mingle with fine diners. No one is out of place in this happening little town as they are all after the same thing - fun in the sun and relaxation. With a regional focus on healing and well-being, it's easy to escape to quieter beaches or the hinterland retreats all within 15 minutes of the town. At under an hour from both Ballina and Gold Coast airports, it's an easy place to visit but very hard to leave.
