When Harriet is told she has to take up ice-skating, she's surprised: after all, she knows nothing about ice skating. And her first trip to the rink is not a huge success - she's scared even to get on the ice - until Lalla offers to help. Suddenly Harriet and Lalla are friends, and Harriet's skating gets better and better. Both girls take tests: both pass. Harriet takes another one - is she catching Lalla up? Lalla the child star?
Lalla is furious, and Harrier, in her misery, knows what she must do. To keep Lalla's friendship she must fail her next test, on purpose . . .
