Fourteen months later, Nicholas Hyde, a volunteer working for a humanitarian charity, is asked to help investigate a fresh massacre: a small village, its inhabitants torn to pieces. Ambushed by pale, ape-like creatures that are fierce, unnaturally quick and strong, only Nick and a government observer survive to tell the tale.
But no one wants to listen. Obligate has its own version of events. Shell-shocked and angry, Nick refuses to co-operate. And that's when the people around him start to die.
