Rhys Morton and Toby Hampshire are in Lorne with Toby's family, to compete in the Lorne Easter Surf competition. Rhys is focused on becoming the junior surf champion, for which the prize is a skateboard - exactly what Rhys wants. Toby is in the novice section, and his dad Phillip, a former surfing champion, is determined to beat his old rival, Jellyfish O'Donnell, in the veterans' section.
When items start to disappear near the surf club, Jellyfish suspects a young skateboarder, so Rhys and Toby go to the skate park hoping to track down the thief. But who is it? And why would a skater be stealing surfing equipment? When the surf whips up on the day of the competition, who'll dare to ride such a huge set of waves, remembering there's a new skateboard as the trophy for the juniors?
