The Australian light is so clear and bright that the horizon seems to stretch beyond our ability to believe it is real. Here in 'Wild Light' are the flat red deserts of central Australia, the towering cliffs of the Great Australian Bight, the lush rainforests of the coastal regions - familiar images seen afresh bathed in the remarkable light of an oncoming storm, in the last rays of the sun or by moonlight. 'Wildlight', a group of talented photographers, present their images of an ancient land, capturing the glowing colours and the subtle grandeur of the time-worn shapes that form much of the landscape.
A text by Mandawuy Yunupingu of 'Yothu Yindi' complements these images. He tells a timeless and personal story of the creation of the land in Aboriginal mythology that enables the reader to move through these photographs as if they were walking through the landscape itself, making clear the long and indelible links his people have with the land.
