Richard and Sarah meet in London, fall in love and move to the country, to be free of the rat race and the ex-partners who have dominated their lives. They buy a cottage in the village of Worth. At first, they struggle to find friends, but then they meet Catherine, who's moved into the cottage next door. As a single woman, she admires their love for each other. As a couple, they admire her uncompromising nature. A delightful friendship ensues. Richard and Sarah support her in her battle against her manipulative sister, whom Catherine won't allow them to meet, in case she steals their friendship from her. With Richard struggling to find work, Sarah, who's pregnant, takes a job with a woman she meets at a conference u only to discover the woman is Catherine's sister. Will she have to turn down the job? Suddenly, Richard and Sarah's whole lives revolve around Catherine. Their predicament only gets worse when they find a dead body in Catherine's living room. How can they ever be free of her?
