Every day thousands of vehicles and machines are in operation which help to produce our food, construct our buildings and keep our sports pitches, parks and green spaces in good order so that we can enjoy our sport and leisure activities. The people who own and operate these machines, whether they be in the public, or the private, sector spend large sums of money purchasing, running and maintaining them. This well illustrated book is essential reading for those in charge of a workshop and those in the agricultural, grounds care and constructions sectors. · Discusses what maintenance is, why it is so important and what is required in order to administer an efficient maintenance programme.· Examines what is needed in a workshop and how it should be maintained and organized, paying particular attention to health and safety issues.· Discusses machinery dealerships, the historical development of machinery, and machinery maintenance schedules.· Considers diesel and small petrol engines, transmission systems and the elements of power transmission, tyres, tracks and steering, vehicle electrics and hydraulics.· Guides the reader through all aspects of metalwork, fabrication and welding.
