The stories revolve around misunderstandings about the animals that the koala (bear) would drink milk, that the platypus breathed underwater like a fish; the white settlers didnt know a wombat could dig and were astounded when they saw a kangaroo hop with babies in a pouch.The white settlers had never seen anything like Australian creatures and were not quite sure what they were ― they made many mistakes in their attempts to draw them. At the end of this book are shown pictures drawn by early settlers, accompanied by a simple text for children.
